Mediation in Nigeria today is still at the budding stage. Access to justice is a basic principle of law the world over. Mediation is a key tool to relieving the backlog of cases in civil courts in Nigeria. Mediation was formally introduced in Nigeria with the establishment of the Multi-Door Courthouse in Lagos though most traditional societies in Nigeria have had neutrals mediate conflicts for centuries.

To ensure the successful implementation of mediation in commercial disputes, it is essential that mediators develop the necessary skills to assist parties in finding solutions that meet their needs. This course, Mediation Skills Training Nigeria, will provide aspiring commercial mediators with the needed skills while enhancing the culture of mediation in Nigeria.

Edwards Mediation Academy’s online courses are taught by the most experienced experts and pioneers in the mediation field. They are highly interactive and incorporate presentations and commentary, as well as virtual mediation shadowing, where participants observe a full day mediation as though sitting at the table with the mediator. Learn from the lens of experience, not through a textbook.

Learners can take the online portion of the course in the convenience of their home or office, over a period of six months with seasoned and experienced Nigerian Mediators leading subsequent 90 minute discussions and mediation coaching sessions after specific modules.

Special Kiilumaya price of $275

Due to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) recent policy of $20 USD monthly limit on Naira debit/credit cards, you may pay the course fee in Naira to the following Nigerian account. You will be enrolled within 24 hour of receipt of funds.

We always acknowledge that these lessons need to be filtered through a cultural and local lens.  Having said that, this course focuses on the mediation process —  breakdowns in human communication, how to repair relationships, how to interact productively in commercial conflict — all of which transcend borders.

Moreover, each of the live facilitations are adapted to the Nigerian situation and facilitated by local experts with over 25 years of experience.   Led by Morenike Obi-Farinde,  students and instructors discuss how to apply the lessons to the specific legal and cultural environment in Nigeria.

It is for this reason that EMA affiliate courses have been successfully completed by over 400 lawyers, judges and others throughout Africa.

It is advisable that you do not miss the facilitation sessions as it offers an opportunity to interact one on one with Bruce Edwards and the facilitators and get answers directly to individual questions. However, if you are unavoidably absent, the facilitation sessions are recorded, so you can always go back to it.

Facilitations are fixed as agreed between participants and facilitators at commencement of the course.
